Sun, Sand & Surf - Galveston Vacation

Between Adam, Blake Emily & I finding a time when we could all go on vacation together is pretty tough so when we found a week in August we could all get away we jumped at the chance. We all had some pretty rough weeks so a vacation was just what the doctor ordered for all of us! Although vacationing with a baby is a tad more difficult and requires much more supplies we made it work! I'm glad Blake & Emily could join us we always enjoy going places with them and it was nice to have the extra hands to help with Jack.

Headed to Galveston, Charlie Monkey kept Jack entertained!

We got to Galveston late Friday night, it was after 10:00 but the boys still stayed up till 3:00 in the morning fishing. We always stay up late fishing when we go to Galveston and then the next morning we sleep in to make up for it but that is no longer the case, Jackson woke us up nice and early at 6:45 ready to start the day, Mom & Dad weren't quite so ready but since we were all up we headed over to the beach to take a look..

Later that morning Adam & Blake decided to head out and do some fishing in the boat while the girls and Jack went in town to get groceries and supplies.

Jackson wanted to get a picture on the boat with the boys

They caught a shark!!!

Meanwhile Jackson was having fun with the girls at the grocery store

That night Jackson enjoyed an avocado for dinner

After dinner was done and Jackson was put to bed we settled in for a night of fishing.

I caught a Trout

Emily caught an Eel, you can tell she really wanted to hold it!

The next day while Jackson was down for his nap I decided it was time for me to finally try out the kayak. I never tried it out before because when Adam got it I was pretty pregnant and didn't feel like that was the best time to try it out. So while Aunt Emily and Uncle Blake stayed with the sleeping boy Adam & I headed out to the bay in the kayaks...

I had a lot of fun it was very peaceful being out on the water like that and fun hanging out with my husband in the kayaks.

Adam was trying out Blake's kayak for the first time

headed out to the bay

we had fun kayaking together it was a nice date!

After our kayaking date was over we all got ready for a trip to the beach. Jackson has been to the beach once before but this was the first time we actually put his feet in the water...

He is not really sure why we are doing this to him

Family at the beach!

Adam showing Jack the beach

and of course the boys had to try doing some kayak fishing at the beach

We had a good time hanging out at the beach and Jackson did really well but eventually he was hot, tired and sandy and it was time to head home and shower and nap. Later that night after Jackson was in bed it was time for more fishing, if you can't tell yet that's always how we spend our nights in Galveston.

I caught this blue crab but there was no way I was holding it so that is Adam holding it in the picture

Adam caught this Trout

Blake caught this ribbon fish

It had really creepy teeth I didn't like this fish

We had a fun night of fishing and of course the boys stayed up way too late. The next day we headed to The Strand and ate lunch at the Gumbo Bar and walked around.

The last day of our vacation Emily and I got our nails done while the boys watched Jack. I don't have any pictures from them watching Jack but it sounds like they had some fun adventures. We had a really great time and I am glad we got to go! Here are some pictures from the rest of our vacation...

Blake caught a big catfish on their last trip out on the boat

Adam & Jackson enjoyed swinging on the swing

Jackson playing with the hammer Uncle Blake got for him

Jackson liked crawling all over Uncle Blake

Loved waking up to this view every morning

Jackson had fun taking a bath in the sink

We had a great time and did a lot of stuff but also spent some good time relaxing. We can't wait to go back again for another vacation, I am already ready!

I'm excited today because we are only one week away from the beginning of Aggie Football Season!!! I love Aggie Football it's my favorite time of year, as fall starts to begin and all the fun holidays start and it will be even more fun with Jackson around this year. I will leave you with a picture of our future little Aggie Class of 2034!!!

I am starting early trying to get him to be an Aggie one day!!

Scooting, Rolling & Moving Oh My - 7 Months

That little boy has done it again and gotten a month older on us and like I always say time is flying by but I sure am loving this fun new stage we are entering. Jackson has become very mobile this month and Adam & I find ourselves often turning around for a second and then saying where did Jackson go and find him in a corner with something he probably shouldn't have. Gone are the days when you can sit him down and generally find him in the same area. He had mastered rolling from place to place and gotten really good at pivoting so he could roll in the right direction but starting a week and a half ago our boy started scoot crawling and can get places in no time flat. It sure is fun to watch and Mom & Dad are getting quite a work out these days chasing after our boy. We also started the boy on some finger foods this month which includes baby mum-mums and puffs and he is having fun learning how to feed himself. We finally found a sippy cup that works for him and this Momma is proud to say that her boy has mastered the straw. He sometimes gets totally out of control with it and ends up soaking wet but he loves that straw. He loves to talk all the time and anytime he sees a lady coming his way he gives out a big smile, he is such a flirt! It's been a fun month and we are really enjoying this stage, it's so fun to watch him learn and start moving. Here are Jackson's likes and dislikes...

Getting a picture of this boy sitting still is getting harder and harder he is always on the go!! Here a couple outtakes from our 7 months photo shoot...

So silly this boy always makes me smile!

working on escaping to his toy box

Not sure what I am suppose to do with this boy he can't sit still

Just chilling and being cute

That is how most photo shoots go these days, he is always making me laugh, we have a lot of fun together! I feel like so much has happened since my last post, I'll try to catch you up through some pictures...

I think they put this out for me to lay on but I just like to wrap myself in it

clearly I am headed for trouble!

always on the move

Looks like Mom is going to need to clean the floors!

Trying out asparagus for the first time, why would you make me eat this!

Where should I go next?

He really loves the train cousin Max passed down to him!

I thought it was pretty cool that I could crawl into my exersaucer

I went to the grocery store with Mom, I really love being able to sit up in the cart now!

See I've got this straw thing down!

My Mom went on her first overnight without me for Aunt Abi's Bachelorette Party and Grammy came to visit and hang out with me!

We had such a good time in Galveston for our vacation but I felt that it needed to be it's own post. Once again I will leave you with a picture of my adorable helper...

I love this kid! We decided to go with a long sleeve shirt since it's a rainy day and the high is only 73 today and that is just crazy for Texas in August!

To the Rescue...

Luckily for Adam & I, my Mom aka Honey, had scheduled a visit for this past Sunday and it couldn't have come at a better time. We really needed reinforcements after the week we had just had.

Jackson is excited that Honey has arrived!

After arriving home from Brenham last week, the next day Jackson came down with a cold. He was quickly followed by Adam, and then just to make sure the whole family was miserable together I came down with a cold too. On top of colds for all, Jackson was teething and his first top tooth just barely broke through. Then we had his 6 months shots on Monday. Jackson has been a trooper through all of this, but you can't blame the boy for a being a little extra fussy when he is going through all that at the same time! So, needless to say, it's been a difficult week around the Hueske House, but the good news is today everyone seems to be on the up and up! Jackson seems to have it the worse still, but the doc said it would take 10-14 days to get it all out of his system.

Now let's get the Stats from Jackson's 6 months appointment...
Weight: 17 pounds and 35%-36% percentile
Height: 27.5 inches and 79% percentile
Head: 17 inches and 38%
He is consistently growing at the same rate and moving up in percentile a little at each appointment. Of course he is absolutely perfect and right on track!

How could I not be a growing boy when I can already feed myself!

We had a wonderful time with Honey in town, she gave Jackson lots of loving and helped out wherever she could. She even let Mommy and Daddy go on a date Tuesday night. Adam & I really enjoyed that! I also got a chance to make Jackson some more food including plums, sweet potato, blueberries, cherries, and asparagus. Thanks Honey for coming up and helping out, we had fun!

I seem to make this face a lot, I guess my parents are shocking!

and here it is again

The many faces of Jackson, this boy has quite the personality!

Feeding himself again, he likes it when you let him do that!

Not sure what happened to his hair here, but I am pretty sure it's Dad's fault!

He really loves his Honey!

This is what happens when I feed myself! I make a mess, but that's alright because it's fun!

Jackson went to Central Market with Mommy & Honey to get some yummy food for Mom to make into baby food

I'm very excited because next Friday we leave for Galveston for a nice little family vacation! I think we could all use one!! Uncle Blake and Aunt Emily are coming with us and we always have a good time when we go to Nanny and Pop's Beach house with them! Last time we went the beach was pretty yucky and Jack was still pretty young, so we didn't even put his feet in the sand. We will this time for sure, and will be taking lots of pictures!!

My little helper today, I don't think anyone has a helper as cute as mine!
